Lovely Headpiece?

I've been dragging my feet all day about posting here. And it's late, but I had to share this picture with you.

What is that on my head? Was I playing nun? Day at the races? Ideas are appreciated, and encouraged.

P.S. Additionally, what were we all staring at? The space we are looking at is the entrance to the dining room with a great view of...the dining room table? It looks like we're looking at a TV, but there's certainly no TV there. Curious. Suggestions welcome and encouraged, again.
